Service · Tree pruning & surgery
Pruning, crown thinning, crown raising, crown reduction and deadwooding. A lot of Rochester's older gardens carry mature standards under TPO or inside the Conservation Area - we handle both as standard, not as an extra.
Not necessarily. A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or Conservation Area status means you need consent before pruning, not that pruning is banned outright. Routine, sensible arboricultural work (removing dead wood, a modest crown thin) is usually approved quickly. What it does mean is you can't just get a chainsaw out on a Saturday - unauthorised work on a protected tree in a conservation area carries a fine of up to £20,000 in the magistrates' court, and unlimited in the Crown Court. We check protected status on every quote before we agree a price, and file the paperwork as part of the job.
Tree work is priced per tree after we've seen it, based on species, size, access and how much work is needed. As a rough guide, deadwooding or a light crown thin on a mid-size garden tree typically runs £150 – £450; a full crown reduction on a large mature standard can run considerably more, particularly where access requires rigging rather than a straightforward climb.
